The Bechtel Ranch
The Bechtel Ranch, nestled in the Flint Hills of Kansas, is a field trialer's paradise. Thousands of acres (approximately 12 square miles available) of rolling tall grass prairie dotted with thickets, brushy, woody draws and hedgerows provide excellent cover to hold upland game birds. Streams lace their way throughout the property and numerous ponds provide water for the horses along the way.
The campgrounds horseshoe around the 30' x 94' clubhouse. There is parking for over eighty rigs. Thirty water hydrants of rural water are located throughout the campgrounds. Five water tanks, one pond and a creek that surrounds the tie out area provide water for the horses. Sixteen electrical hookups are available in the yard around the clubhouse. Hookups, 240 and 120/110 volt, accommodate both large RV's and smaller trailers. Two drive-by dump stations are located on the grounds and three direct sewer hookups.
The clubhouse contains a 30' x 50' meeting room and dining area for banquets, hospitality functions, Calcutta's and awards presentations. The kitchen, located in the center of the building and equipped with a commercial range and grill, provides breakfast and lunch during trials. Men's and Women's dormitory-style restrooms, located in the rear of the clubhouse, both contain a shower and two sinks. The foyer, located between the kitchen and the restrooms, contains washers and dryers for those needing to do a little laundry during their stay.
